Key statistics and developments in organic farming in Poland and the Mazowieckie region.
The organic sector in Poland has evolved from rapid, subsidy-driven growth after EU accession (2004) to a phase of structural correction and, more recently, steady market-oriented development.
After a strong expansion in farms and organic land up to 2013, the sector contracted due to stricter regulations between 2014 and 2019, eliminating less active producers and improving overall professionalism.
At the same time, demand for organic food began to grow significantly, driven by rising consumer awareness, COVID-19, and the expansion of retail and e-commerce channels. However, domestic supply has often not kept pace, leading to imports and supply gaps.
Recent years (2019–2024) show renewed and more stable growth, with increases in both organic producers and cultivated area, supported by stronger EU policy frameworks and Green Deal objectives.
